NBC will broadcast the opening ceremonies and news anchor Diane Dwyer will host the dinner festivities.

All proceeds from Night of Champions 2010 will benefit BASOC and Northern California Olympians programs in the Bay Area, including Olympian outreach to local schools.

Your Night of Champions support goes towards:
  • An ongoing relationship with the Visitacion Valley School in San Francisco where we work with the principal and students on Olympic programs.
  • Our Community partnership with the USOC enables us to give materials to Bay Area schools about Olympism, youth in sports, respect, teamwork and hard work.
  • BASOC donated funds to help build an all-weather, state-of-the-art synthetic turf field at Sala Burton Academic High School.
  • Training for 2012 is a legacy project from the 2012 SF Olympic Bid - our Northern CA Olympians go into schools to help kids learn the Olympic ideals and values.

The Bay Area Sports Organizing Committee (BASOC)



The Bay Area Sports Organizing Committee, a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization, promotes the San Francisco Bay Area as the ideal location for preeminent amateur and professional sports events in order to enhance the region’s quality of life and to stimulate the local economy.

BASOC aims to bid for, promote and manage a variety of athletic events throughout Northern California. In its bid efforts, the organization serves as a coordinator of numerous regional institutions and authorities.

BASOC’s ultimate goal is to bring the Summer Olympic Games to the San Francisco Bay Area and to create a meaningful Olympic legacy that benefits diverse segments of the population for generations to come.
